Medal Mounting.

COURT MOUNTING (14K)
COURT MOUNTING

Court mounting of medals is when the medals are fixed to a backing made of buckram. The buckram is, itself, covered in the relevant medal ribbons and gives the medals a very attractive look whilst keeping them firmly fixed down which prevents damage from the medals banging against each other.

SWING MOUNTED

Ordinary mounting of medals is where the medal ribbon(s) is/are threaded through the medal brooch and the medal(s) are allowed to hang loose from the brooch. When worn, the medals give off a distictive clinking noise. Some people prefer the look of ordinary mounting and it is very much a case of personal choice.
